Avocados

On June 14, when MVP was 5 months old, we tried feeding him avocados for the first time. To see his reaction, check out the video below. Or if it doesn't work, click on this link to watch it.

Although his initial reaction was quite positive, upon further analysis, MVP ultimately decided he doesn't like avocados nearly as much as he likes bananas and sweet potatoes. This is very unfortunate because as with most baby foods, once you've mashed them up, they become disgusting. For example, if I take a perfectly ripe, appetizing banana and mash it up, it suddenly becomes very unappealing (pun intended). Not so with an avocado. Mashed up avocados become delicious guacamole--so it's really too bad that the kid doesn't like avocados because I'd have no problem eating his leftovers. So there goes my excuse to buy lots of avocados this summer.

Father's Day

Andy had a nice, relaxing Father's Day weekend. We went to lunch on Saturday and, for the most part, stayed at home for the rest of the weekend. Andy spoke in sacrament meeting and did a wonderful job.

Here are a couple of pictures of my boys. The first one was taken right after church on Sunday and the second one is of them wearing their Redskins shorts that Auntie Melanie made for them.

Pass the popcorn!

This kid is ready for Game 4!

Don't tell Grandpa Jon, but I think I'd rather see the Celtics win. :-)

Catching Rays

We took MVP to the beach for the first time on Saturday. After several thunderstorms earlier in the week, I was grateful to have a beautiful, sunny day and we took advantage of it by going to the beach. MVP loved it. He was fascinated by the waves, the sand and all the people. He had no problems sticking his toes in the water. The water here is a lot warmer than it is in California!! At one point, Andy put him in a carrier and they went for a long walk. MVP fell asleep--what a great way to spend a Saturday!

Redneck Fishing

We went on a little adventure yesterday to Southport, NC. I mostly wanted to get out of the house. I will probably post more about our adventure later, but I wanted to post this for your viewing pleasure.

We happened upon a guy who was fishing from a pier with, of course, a compound bow. I must say that it was quite ingenious because he said that the fish in that area don't bite very often because they've wised up to the normal means of getting caught via fishing line and bait. I was sad that we didn't see him actually "catch" anything, but somehow, this was the highlight of my adventure. Moby Dick better watch his back!

Video of the week

MVP is at a really cute age where he thinks everything is funny. Sometimes I think I'm still at that age...
